In the first quarter the Harlow Hawks were down seven points within the first two minutes. This was soon changed by Jack Aylott with a run of twelve points and was continued with a basket by Kane Crowley, followed by a string of eight points by Stachys Scott. This led to the score at the end of the first quarter being very close; 22 – 23 to the Shoeburyness Scorpions.
The second quarter commenced with a three pointer from Jack followed by another two point score. However, multiple unsuccessful attacks meant that the Scorpions gained a larger lead. The quarter ended with Kieran Singh making a free throw, making the score at the end of the first half; 28 – 51 to the Scorpions.
After a positive half time talk, the energy at the start of the third quarter increased greatly, with the entire team’s attitude being more positive. This change in attitude meant that consistent scoring by Jack and baskets by both Karim Tadros and new member of the team, Jag Molines made the score at the end of the third quarter; 48 – 72.
With the team’s energy still high, communication was effective and baskets were secured by Jack, Kane and Karim. The score at the end of the game was 67 – 95 to the Scorpions.
Overall the Harlow Hawks showed good, positive team play which can be built upon and carried through to further games in the season.
