Match Report

Spirits were high among the Hawks players as they prepared to play the Cambridge Cats despite suffering a heavy loss only two weeks earlier. The game started off with great intensity with both teams accumulating points through structured offence and ruthless defence and by the end objectives of the quarter the results stood at 27-14 to the Cambridge Cats.

The second quarter saw the Cambridge Cats take advantage of the poor Hawks defence despite the Hawks finding some luck on offence by constantly forcing themselves into their opponents paint. The gap between the two teams gradually increased as the Cats continued to drive through the Hawks defence and this saw the Hawks concede another 32 by the end of the second quarter.

During the second half of the game the Hawks started to use the offensive plays that they have worked on earlier during the season in an attempt to raise the score but even this was not enough to stop the Cambridge Cats and at the end the end of the quarter the game seemed to in the favour of the opposition as the score was 87 for the Cats and 44 for the Hawks.

The 4th quarter proved to be the most energetic and exciting as the Harlow Hawks flourished both offensively and defensively, tough defence from the Hawks led to multiple turnovers from the Cambridge Cats and the Hawks took advantage of the fast breaks that had been made possible. The perseverance of the Harlow Hawks allowed them to lead the quarter in scoring with an impressive 25 to 21 point finish and not only did they outplay the Cambridge Cats in the 4th quarter but 4 of their players finished with points in the double digits. But despite this impressive push by the Hawks the game finished to 103-69 to the the Cambridge Cats.
