Harlow Hawks enjoyed their second away win of the season against Berkhampsted Bears in Herts Division 1 avenging a 10 point home loss from the first game of the season.
With only eight players available to make the Sunday evening game, the team full of seasoned veterans and an U18’S player prevailed.
Harlow started the game steadily against a team with a full squad and a mix of youth and experience in a tight scoring first quarter, Coach S.Niaz hitting two three pointers and M.Niaz adding one.
In the second quarter Harlow stepped up a gear with great hustle and defense from the whole team to seize and build a lead with a three pointer from Coach S.Niaz, another two from U18’S player M.Niaz and R.Norkeliunas starting to show his strength inside scoring 9 points in the quarter with Hawks finishing the half leading 35-27.
After half time Norkeliunas continued to dominate inside and on the offensive rebounds scoring 14 points in the quarter to take his total to 25 for the game, M.Niaz hitting another three pointer his fourth of the game with Hawks extending their lead to 13 points ending the quarter 59-46.
Going in the last quarter Harlow lost R.Allan to injury, M.Haddow took over scoring 11 of Harlow’s 16 points with some classic inside center moves in an even scoring quarter with Hawks staying strong to close out the game winning 75-62.
