The Hawks came into game 6 prepared and ready. After coming off of a tough loss to the Haringey Hawks they were determined to go out and play hard basketball. The Hawks started off playing good offense managing to convert many of their shots and successfully testing Richmonds defense. All of the starting five managed to score in the first quarter keeping the scores close. However, unfortunately Richmond also managed to test the Hawks inside with quick cuts and hard layups getting the job done and keeping the scores level. The Hawks still battled on with Josh Haddow almost converting a poster on one of the opposition players and Matt Fleming nearly making a dunk! The first quarter ended 15 – 18 to Richmond a very close game.
In the second quarter the Hawks carried on pushing scoring 16 points. More than the last quarter. Free throws proved once again to be a problem for the Hawks missing on too many occasions and giving up easy points. Players such as Mubbasher, Josh Haddow and Matt Fleming all making 3’s to significantly help the offensive push and even rookies to the league such as Kyle Mantere and Jakub Fridrich secured points. The offensive effort by the Hawks was one of their best however defensively they could have done better. The end result being 71 – 59 to the Richmond Knights a very unfortunate defeat but taken on the chin by the Hawks. They will be back!
