We contacted all the junior club members (team and non-team) who were attending sessions prior to lockdown asking them about returning so that we could get an idea for the number of players for each age group. All should now have received an email (the same for Senior team players), which they are required to acknowledge.
In addition to above we have to factor in the enquiries we had during lockdown about joining when we ran sessions again.
All of this is being put into the planning for scheduling of restarting sessions again, without trying to cause too much disruption to what time slots were in place for sessions pre-lockdown. But there is likely to be some adjustments we are going to have to make in order for us to make the best use of our bookings.
In preparation for returning to our regular sessions, we have been testing our screening and session processes/procedures using the Skills Centre.
We hope to be able to announce very soon the restarting of various sessions using full court venues, but there will be restrictions in place on numbers that can attend sessions. So it is probably going to inevitable that we may have to introduce a waiting list for some sessions, until we move to other Levels of the Basketball England RTP (Return to Play) that will have less restrictions in place.
We are in the final stages of being able to have some sessions running on a regular basis very soon.
As part of this and planning for future sessions in the coming months, all junior players who were registered on Hawks CVL (Central Venue League) teams last season will be\have been contacted asking about them returning next season. It is very important that parents respond in the timeframe requested as we don’t want anyone to be left disappointed later.
Initially to start with, we will not be running full court sessions like we normally did prior to lockdown, due to guidance given.
We have viewed the Return to Play guidance for Level 2 and have been working in the background for a couple of weeks to ensure that things are in place to make the sessions as safe as possible for everyone that attends them.
In the guidance it is recommended that small bubbles are created for sessions and players remain in those bubbles for approx 6 weeks and that players are not changing bubbles.
Sessions will be scheduled to start take place in the Skills Centre from next week (w/c 24th Aug). The Skills Centre is now located at Harlow Leisurezone.
There may be a gradual build up of sessions scheduled to run.
The size of the bubbles for the Skills Centre will be:
- U14 and older age groups – 4 Players
- U8’s and U11’s – 6 players (we may change if required to smaller group size)
- All players attending the sessions must have Harlow Leisurezone (LZ) membership, if it has expired then please renew it. If your membership is not valid then the centre will charge you a guest fee of £2 (or which rate is current) per session you attend.
It is going to be very important that all members who attend the sessions comply with instructions that will be given for attending sessions.
We will be reviewing the situation regularly and our planning will be flexible as we will need to be able to change things as required.
Hopefully it will not be too long before we are in a position to be able to schedule sessions using full court venue (some restrictions may still be in place). But as currently stands the only sessions we will have running until at least the end of September, will be in the Skills Centre.
Last night (Mon 27th July 2020) Basketball England were given the green light to progress the Return To Play plans to Level 2 from Monday 3rd August.
This is a really positive step with regards to getting back towards Level 0, which will means all restrictions lifted. The Road Map levels are as shown further below.
The importance of Level 2 is that it allows for indoor courts to be used.
We will have to look at what we need to do in the coming weeks and will announce things when we are able to with regards to what is going to run and when.
